Prime Minister announces projects, further delay in Lowari tunnel

Chitral — Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Chitral on a one day flying visit. He  said the PML (N) Government believes in the service of the people and development of the country.

He was addressing a public meeting in Chitral today after performing ground breaking of development projects.

The Prime Minister said it is his dream that all the political forces work together for the progress and prosperity of the country.  He said it is his desire that his opponents should play their role for take the country forward on the path of progress.

PMHe said he does not take notice of statements of his opponents.  He said people are taking notice of these statements and giving answers to these statements.

Announcing several development projects for Chitral, the Prime Minister said Lowari Tunnel project being delayed for the last fifty-five years, will be completed by June next year at a cost of twenty-seven billion rupees. He said Federal Government gave ten billion rupees for the project during the last three years and eight billion rupees more will be given next year.

The new date for inauguration of Lowari tunnel was not taken well by the people because this is the second time the inauguration date is being postponed in a year. First it was announced by the PM that tunnel would be inaugurated by December this year, then it became March 2017 and now it is June 2017.

Advisor to PM Engineer Amir Muqam said representation of different parties in the public meeting is reflective that the people of Chitral are happy over the development being taken place in the area.  He questioned PTI and PAT to explain the objective of their sit-ins.

In his speech, MNA from Chitral Iftikharuddin thanked the Prime Minister for giving huge funds for development projects in Chitral including Lowari Tunnel. He said Nawaz Sharif brought real change in the country.  He lauded the Federal Government for timely helping the quake and floods affected people of Chitral.  He said those who are doing the politics of sit ins did not any help to the affectees.
