Chitral:? Muhammad Farhan Young son of Chitral based senior journalist Gul Hamaad Farooqi had died due to criminal negligence of doctors. PHC restored previous verdict of session court regarding lodging FIR against Professor Dr. Mazhar Khan in-charge of Surgical A unit of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC). Prominent lawyer Muhibullah Terichvi advocate produced before a division bench comprising over chief Justice Mr. Justice Wiqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.
The counsel in his arguments told the learned court that young son of my client Muhammad Farhan was suffering from appendix who was taken twice a day to Naseerullah Khan Babar Memorial hospital Peshawar but doctors sent him back to home without any operation. He was taken to Lady reading hospital in children surgical Unit in morning and night but doctors once again neglected him and sent him back. He was taken to HMC in OPD at morning time but doctors of HMC hospital once again committed criminal negligence and did not operate him as a result his appendix rupture and he became serious but even then no doctor was ready for his surgery.
Some junior doctors at evening operated him wrongly as a result he became serious and was referred to ICU but there was not bed and next day he was taken to surgical ICU at KTH where he expired after one hour.
Muhibullah Terichvi advocate had submitted a case under 22-A at session court and the learned court had decided in its verdict by directing Hayatabad police to lodge FIR against professor Dr Mazhar Khan who challenged this decision in Peshawar high court for quashement. But PHC also rejected his appeal and restored previous decision of session court by directing Hayatabad police for lodging FIR against Dr. Mazhar Khan head of surgical unit A of HMC.
Earlier that in death of Farhan case Inayatullah Khan advocate had submitted case under 22-A for lodging FIR against doctors on is the learned court had ordered SHO Khan Raziq Shaheed police station to lodge FIR against Dr. Speen Gul and Dr. Muhammad Zaheen of Naseerullah Khan Babar Memorial Hospital Kohat Road and Professor Dr. Kifayat Kha head of pediatric surgical unit of Lady Reading Hospital with , Dr. Muhammad Fayaz, Dr. Jehangir TMO, Dr Asghar Nawaz house officer and Dr Mukhtar Zaman medical Director of LRH but SHO of KRS police station inspector Muhammad Noor had lodged FIR against the building of LRH casualty by nominating no doctor.
Talking to local journalists Gul Hamaad Farooqi termed this verdict of PHC as a win for justice and this way doctors will be careful in future if they were punished by court and will not play with the lives of poor patients, he said. .. CN report, 15 Nov 2018
