Chitralis walk for environment in Islamabad
Islamabad --An environmental and peace walk was held in
Islamabad organized by Chitral Heritage and Environment
Protection Society (CHEPS).
The participants of the walk held banners and placards
highlighting the need to protect the earth for the
survival of humanity. They cleaned park area and removed
waste materials at Shakar Parian to create awareness
among the people about negative impacts of environmental
pollution on the human life and the need to fight,
individually and collectively against the environmental
pollution.
The participants laid special emphasis on the need to
protect environment and indigenous cultural values, and
promote peace and harmony. Chital and valleys of
Gilgit-Baltistan host the great glaciers of Pakistan and
therefore need special attention with regard to
environmental education and protective measures.
Rehmat Ali, the chairman CHEPS while talking to media
and the participants laid stress upon the need to work
as a team to create awareness about the hazards of
global warming and environmental change --CN report , 12 Dec 2010
