Free govt books on sale

Chitral -:Books meant for government schools to be freely distribution among the students are being sold in the open market.with the connivance of some education department officials and the Textbook Board Peshawar staff.

A student of 7th class showed a book of Arabic in which there was clearly pasted the stamp of "free from government, not for sale." But the child said he had bought it from a bookshop for rupees 44.

When this scribe contacted the bookseller about the reality and asked why he was selling free books to students and from where he had got it, he disclosed on condition of anonymity that he had purchased the books from the Textbook Board Peshawar. He said the board administration also issued them receipts for the books. He said such books were also selling in other bookshops of Chitral.--(GH Farooq,
