Why we need Meritocracy
-letter
aka 'The revenge of Democracy'
The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is ruled by
democratically elected Charsadda
oriented politicians. Charsadda is famous for sugar cane
and there is a proverb that the more you pour in sugar
the more sweet it will get This is why Public
Service Commission is not working since April 2008.
8000 Adhoc people have been regularized and cases of
2000 more are in the process.
In Nov 2010, Higher Education Department Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa appointed 800 Adhoc lecturers on the basis
of nepotism and corruption. Among 150 first Divisioners
from Chitral, district, nobody was appointed because no
one could deposit six months salary in the accounts of the
concerned quarters. The demand was genuine; we give you
one year contract on fifty-fifty basis. This is exactly
what is called “the murder of meritocracy” or "the
revenge of democracy" in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa. --Bashir Hussain
