Kalash want consent of parents for their girls to marry Muslims

CHITRAL: The Kalash community wants a law/agreement between the two communities that makes it mandatory for a Kalash girl to get the consent of her parents before she decides to marry a muslim boy. The community is wary of increasing number of young underage Kalash girls getting tied in wedlock with Muslim partners after relinquishing their faith and adopting their would be husband’s religion, without the consent of their parents.  The demand was put forward by the Kalash elders during the visit of Provincial ministers for Labour, Mineral development, Prisons and CM’s advisor on minority affairs, who had come to the valley to witness the Kalash festival ‘Uchal’. ..
