28 Aug 2020: The Boroghil festival which was scheduled to be held on 5th September has now been postponed due to the floods and damage to roads in the area. The new date for the event has been given as 12 and 13 September.
26 Aug 2020: Rumboor valley of the Kalash inhabitants received flash floods damaging many houses and crops. Japanese turned Kalash lady Akiko Wada living in the valley and married to a Kalash, has posted damage to her house and another guest house, on the social media.
26 Aug 2020: A 24 year old man stabbed to death his 22 year old brother in Sueer village of Drosh. The cause was domestic dispute as reported by the father of the two men.
23 Aug 2020: Syed Ghufran Shah father of senior journalist Zulfiqar Ali Shah passed away in Charun . 20 Aug 2020: Commissioner Malakand division has issued special instructions to complete Lowari Tunnel approach roads by end Nov 2020. Keeping the past performance of work on the Lowari in view it would be a surprise if the approach roads are completed by Nov 2021 also. Absence of accountability is the major, rather the only reason for failures to follow such ‘special’ instructions and meet deadlines.

19 Aug 2020: Temperature fell for the better in Chitral town after many days of sizzling heat. Rains along with flash floods have been reported at various places including Bumburet, the tourist hot spot these days.
19 Aug 2020: Momin Shah, father of former provincial minister Saleem Khan, passed away at the age of 80. He will be laid to rest in Kandujal Garm Chashma on 20 Aug.
17 Aug 2020: A 19 year old young man Bashir Ahmed originally belonging to Shishi Koh ended his life by jumping into the river at Koghuzi. His brother is an employee of WAPDA at Koghuzi, because of which he was there since a long time.
15 Aug 2020: Shahzada Iftikharuddin former MNA and proprietor of Terichmir View Hotel has expressed regrets and deep condolences on the loss of precious lives and injuries due to an accident at his Hotel. He said the unfortunate accident has emotionally devastated him and his family and our hearts are all out with the victims and their families. He said he would visit Qasur to offer condolence to the bereaved families. He thanked the administration and all those who were of help during the catastrophic situation. He said Quran Khwani for the departed souls would be held by the Hotel management.
11 Aug 2020: PIA has decided to resume two weekly flights on the Islamabad-Chitral route from 16 Aug. The flights will operate on Friday and Sunday.The present fare is Rs 5900/- one way, according to the PIA manager in Chitral. However PIA fares fluctuate violently without any prior notification. The sustainability of these flights in the long run will depend on the seat occupancy.

08 Aug 2020: Mother of Prof Muhsin ul Mulk Siddiqui and an eight year old child Basharat succumbed to injuries from an LPG cylinder blast at their home in Jughoor. Two others injured are under treatment in a Peshawar hospital while another less injured was discharged from Chitral hospital after treatment.
06 Aug 2020: DPO Chitral (lower) has written a letter to DC Chitral lower to send arrested drug paddlers to DI Khan jail so that it serves a lesson for others to refrain from drug pushing. This shows the seriousness of the police to combat the drug menace in Chitral.
05 Aug 2020: A man from Arandu has been arrested in connection with the report of of dozens of goats being snatched from a shepherd in Bumburet a week ago. The man was trying to sell the goat in cattle market in Drosh. Usually such cases are attributed to intruders from Afghanistan and the case is closed, but now it was found that the culprit was our own very Pakistani.
04 Aug 2020: Rural Health Center Ayun has been locked down till further notice after eight persons including six members of staff were reported infected with the Corona virus. More tests are in progress.
03 Aug 2020: A large number of intending tourists were turned back from the Lowari tunnel in pursuance of the KP govt decision of keeping tourism at hold during the Eid holidays. The district administration Chitral put the figure at 15000.
03 Aug 2020: A man stabbed his elder brother to death over a petty domestic quarrel in village Maroi. The elder brother who was unmarried had complained about the younger brother’s child bed wetting, after which the unfortunate incident occurred.
02 Aug 2020: Coronavirus SOPs were openly flouted at each and every Eid congregation in Chitral, like they are in mosques everyday. Prayer congregation leaders did not mention anything about precautionary measures. Some salient points of the Eid sermons were, importance of donating hides to seminary students and importance of ‘purdah’. It may be mentioned here that Coronavirus cases are silently increasing in Chitral with most cases going unreported.
01 Aug 2020: Covid-19 cases are increasing in Chitral. Many deaths in the recent past have been attributed to the virus although the victims did not report their sickness. Some doctors and prominent people are said to be in self quarantine after the attack of the virus. The positive thing is that fatalities are less compared to those recovering from the virus.
29 July 2020: Spurious and health injurious chips and snacks continue to flow in Chitral in large numbers. School children are addicted to these ‘snacks’ and the health of our future generation is being degraded by these fake and chemical laden snacks. The Administration should take steps to stop the trucks loaded with this stuff at check posts. Also shops should be warned not to sell them and defaulters punished severely.
