Vocational College
fails to deliver
I wish to draw the attention of your readers and authorities towards
the very important issue of Vocational Technical college Balach,
which was established to provide skill to the poor students of
Chitral in various trades like Auto Mobile, Tailoring, Wood work
Electrician etc. nevertheless, it is unfortunate that the said
institution has failed in fulfilling its basic objective. There are
so many reasons responsible for such failure to be highlighted in
the following lines:
1. No local teacher has been appointed in the institution. Most of
the present teaching staff comes from down areas and as such they
feel it quite difficult to adjust themselves the new environment and
culture to where they have been appointed. The positions have been
filled without any proper advertisement on the newspaper, which
means the underlying principle of merit has been grossly violated.
This happed despite the fact that there are highly talented
qualified professional people available in Chtral.
2 .There are so many vacant positions in the said institution such
as tailoring instructor in addition to a range of other positions,
which has to be filled.
3. There is no system of check and balance in the technical board
and other relevant institution to monitor the staff and the progress
so far made.
4. Last but not least is that our politicians are never
serious in the matter of community welfare and development. So they
do take interest in the matter of reformation and strengthening the
said institution at par with similar institution in the country.
5. To rub salt to the wound, the premises of Poly technical college
has been shifted in the same premises which has resulted in creasing
the already simmering issues of staff and management, Still teaching
and management issue in place.
Based on the above stated facts, the relevant high ups are requested
to please hire local staff for vocational and technical training of
the students in the institution. This is the way how we can improve
the capacity of our institution. Otherwise, parents of students and
other relevant stakeholders reserve the right to raise the issue at
any forum. I personally request to all of Chitrali men and women to
jointly fight against trampling their rights.
