Education on
the verge of collapse
Examination results of class 5 of Chitral
schools conducted by BISE Peshawar has given a
rude shock to parents as well as lovers of
education. Except for an odd one or two students
every other has failed in most government
schools Meanwhile the unprecedented fee increase
in AKES schools has sent shudders down the spine
of parents and teachers alike and is proving
disincentive to admissions in these schools. The
sponsors will either have to withdraw the
increase or privatize these schools to keep them
afloat. It is ironic that teachers in Government
and AKES schools are sending their children to
private schools but expect others to send their
children to their schools. It would be in the
fitness of things that they are obliged to send
their children to the schools where they are
teaching. Perhaps it would motivate them to
improve quality of education in these schools.
Secondly law must be enforced to keep teachers
away from politics, NGOs and private businesses
in which they indulge with impunity. -- (Islamuddin,

Comment 1
I really appreciate Islamuddin's
highlight of the real facts about the education
systems failure. Here I will say that most of
the parents are not confident of the government
education sector. There is no check and balance
in these institutions. So it is very humbly
requested to the authorities of education
department to conduct monthly visits to
different school to check their work

I fully agree with the suggestion
that teachers of government schools should be
bound to educate their own children also in the
same school in which they are teaching. Only
this way will they own the school and take pains
to improve its standard, other wise government
schools will continue to slide from bad to
worse. -- Abdul Rashid,
