Opening of secondary tunnel demanded

Chitral -- Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf  leader Wg Cdr (r) Fardad Ali Shah  has demanded opening of the secondary (2 km) tunnel on the northern side of the Lowari pass also for traffic, as the tunnel is complete and fit for traffic. He said availability of the main Lowari tunnel has mitigated the travel problems of Chitralis to a large extent and he thanked the FWO for better management of the tunnel compared to last year when it was being managed by the NHA and SAMBU. He said the secondary tunnel availability is also important, as it is made for a purpose and opening it would eliminate risk of accidents, reduce the travel time by further one hour and bring down prices of essential goods in Chitral. --CN report, 06 Jan 2012
