Profusion of flowers herald arrival of spring
Chitral --"Better late than never". Spring arrives in Chitral almost
two weeks behind the
yearly standard schedule, but it brings much joy and hope after a
long drawn winter season. Although the opening of Lowari Tunnel has
to a large extent alleviated the traditional miseries of winters in
Chitral but who could not be waiting for the gift of God called
spring, the invigorant air that fills our lungs, the fresh green
that meets our eyes and the bloom of hope and life that adorns
every living soul's face.
Some of the blessings of nature that Chitral enjoys may not be so
found else where e.g. the fragrance of the Russian Olive blossom
(shinjoor), the singing of the Golden Oriol and the
spontaneous sprouting of wild flowers in the
gardens
and meadows. No wonder when spring arrives, labourers and household
servants working down country start making excuses (grand mother is
ill !), to rush back to the land of their heart's desire .. Chitral.
