Chitral -- Like every year, this time again, rumours regarding who is going to be the Chief Guest at the Shandur festival and what is going to be announced there are rife.

 In the past years we have had rumors of virtually every polo loving celebrity including the king of Brunei the Duke of Edinburgh and you name it, wanting to visit Shandur but probably due to the overall uncongenial conditions in Pakistan, the rumours never bear reality.

This time rumours are that the prime Minister would be visiting and announcing the establishment of Mastuj sub division as a separate district, while some say it would be the CM who would avail this privilege.  

Whether rumours come true or not they add to the interest in the Shandur Festival and many petty rulers (Senior officials of government and semi government departments) come running, of course on 'duty' to avail the opportunity to combine an outing and in the bargain brush shoulders with the VIPs -- CN report, 01 July 2011.
