Second hand clothing, a blessing

Chitral -- Come Autumn and you can see scores of sturdy and toiling
Pathan mostly from Mohmand and Bajaur areas storm into Chitral with
their bundles of second hand clothing, gift from the land of the
'kafirs' (the West). Chitralis eagerly await these bundles to
make preparations for the long and harsh winter days ahead.. The use
of second hand clothing is increasing by the day even by middle
class and (supposedly) rich people due to galloping price hike and
unaffordibility of new warm clothes. The Chinese may have beaten the
west in every other item like electronics etc but they cannot beat
the west in their second hand clothing. Even some Chinese were seen
in Chitral Bazar buying European second hand clothing. In Chitral
town the largest market is the 'Burhan Market' followed by the 'Awami
Market' which is fast becoming popular due to its large variety and
competitive prices. --CN
