Commandant assures easing tunnel users woes

Chitral - Subject to the government' approval of opening the Lowari Tunnel for travelers this winter, Chitral Scouts would do it's best to facilitate the travel, said Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Haroon Ur Rashid in a meeting with Wg Cdr (r) Fardad Ali Shah who had called on the former, to apprise him of the people's problems while crossing the tunnel as experienced last winters. It may be pointed out that Chitral Scouts is responsible for security measures at the tunnel.

 Wg Cdr (r) Fardad Ali Shah said it was more secure to allow individual vehicles through the tunnel both ways round the clock, as and when they approach, instead of hoarding them into a convoy which offers a collective target risk inside. The commandant assured full cooperation where welfare of the people was concerned staying within the ambit of his responsibility. --CN report, 14 Dec 2010
