Chitrali journalist selected for USEFP program

Islamabad -- The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has selected Mr Zar Alam Khan, a resident of Yarkhun valley in Chitral, for undergoing training in American media organizations starting September this year. He works with the daily 'Dawn' Islamabad for the last over 10 years and also manages an online newspaper.

The visit of Pakistani media persons to the US is being arranged by the American government under the US-Pakistan Professional Partnership Program for Journalists. Newsmen from the electronic media have already left for the US under the program.

The USEFP had invited applications for the program in November 2010 in which about 13,000 candidates from all over Pakistan had applied. Later, it conducted test and interview of the short-listed candidates in April this year. -- Zulfiqar Ahmad, 06 June 2011.
