Miraculous water
pump functioning in Chitral
Chitral -- Zafar Bhatti deserves a medal for
manufacturing a miracle pump which( without use
of electricity, diesel, or any other fuel) can
throw water to great heights. His father late
Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed is the recipient of
Pakistans highest gallantry medal the Nishan-i-Haider.
Zafar has chosen Chitral as his place of choice
to install and demonstrate his very first pump.
The pump was successfully installed and tested
today, 20 march, at the hydro- electric site of
Hindukush Heights hotel at Singoor.
Using a water head of no more than 35 ft it was
able to deliver water at a site half a kilometer
away and 500ft high.
Zafar modestly says " this is actually a
technology invented and used a hundred years
ago. I have only made improvements and added
features to suit the terrain of Pakistan and the
conditions prevailing here". True. The hydraulic
ram pump lost its use when electricity was
invented. Electricity was cheap and plentiful.
Now when it is neither people like Zafar are
trying to re-introduce alternate energy
measures. He is already working on providing
lighting through solar energy but, sadly, is
running into difficulties with the Federal Board
of Revenue who control some of the items he
needs to import.
Chitral wishes Zafar well. He has already won
over hearts in Singoor village where he has
donated and installed a special hand pump (
another one of his inventions) to give water to
five homes which until now had no source of
running water in the houses.
Zafar intends to have an outlet for his products
in Chitral. Any one interested should contact
him on his phone number in Lahore 042-35600165
