Dramatic jump in PIA fares

Chitral --There has been a dramatic increase in PIA fares since the last few days. Different fares have been charged at different places as qouted by passengers, and the exact position is not clear.

 Haji Inamullah Khan, Manager Bank Islami Chitral talking to CN said he was charged Rs 7566/- (a 100 % jump) for a business class seat from Peshawar to Chitral  on 08 May. He said the person at the check in counter at the airport was rude and said curtly that "only business class seat is available and this is the fare if you want to travel" and as I had an open ticket, I paid the extra money to find in the aircraft that there were three seats vacant in the economy class. He appealed to the MD PIA to enquire into the overcharging of fares and rough handling of passengers at Peshawar airport .--CN report, 10 May 2011..
