Efforts to fight the drug menace

Chitral -- .A meeting of volunteers to consider the growing menace of  drug addiction in Chitral district was held here. The meeting convened by Dr Sardar ul Mulk was attended  by Dr Mir Afzal Tajik, Zohran Shah, Sultan Mehmood, Rahimullah, Saeedullah Jan, Ahmad Shah, Wg Cdr (r) Fardad Ali Shah etc. Participants expressed grave concern over the rapid escalation in this vicious phenomenon and vowed that in the name of God and humanity and for the sake of Chitral, they would not sit as silent spectators watching the decay of their future generation at the hands of narcotics. Participants expressed their resolve to do whatever they could, to check this evil from at least further escalating. The participants put forward various suggestions in this regard and decided to hold further meetings on the issue and include more stakeholders in the consultation process. --CN report, 27 May 2011
