Booni College students protest continues

Chitral -- It was the second day of the Students of Govt Degree College Booni blocking Mastuj Road for traffic demanding teaching faculty, drinking water, hostel arrangements and transportation facility for the College. Students say that have been requesting for the last one year for these facilities but Luke -warm response of College administration, District Govt and representatives of Chitral let us to be in this road to put their demands in the notice of all and sundry. They say that we have been given assurances many times for providing these facilities but nothing has been done so far. They said that we will continue strike tomorrow and demanded that MNA will have to come tomorrow and take up the matter on priority basis and provide us these facilities as soon as possible.

Students also said that we have been listening the sheer words of assurances from all but did not see any progress at all. It has also been listened from students while saying that this is a kind of Jihad for us, we will sacrifice our studies and even future and will take a stand and make possible these facilities available for the coming students at least. They also said that our provincial Govt provided buses etc to the other private educational Institutions and even did not let a glimpse on this public Institution.

Govt Degree College Booni has been working for about two decades. The unavailability of teaching staff has been a big problem for the College administration in general and students particularly. College administration used to engage university graduates to carry on teaching learning process smoothly keeping in mind the very educational needs of the students but all these were as such not suitable alternatives. There is no denying the fact that the Govt has put a deaf ear on the problems of the students particularly in this Institution from the very inception. I think it is a high and crucial time to take notice of the demands of the students by considering the closing days of the academic years of all the students going to their educational Institutions via this road including the students of the GDC students and the problems of the all officials and people of the area using all this road for transportation. -- Alhaj Muhammad Khan
