FMFB Branch opened in Garam Chashma

Chitral-- A branch of The First Micro Finance Bank, an affiliate of Aga Khan Development Network was inaugurated here today. Earlier it was operating here as a collection point, which has now been upgraded as a full fledged branch.

Addressing the inaugural function , Area Manager of the Bank Mr. Amir Wali Khan told the audience that micro finance bank was a proven tool to empower the people and alleviate poverty. Being a not-for-profit dispensation, the bank recycled its profits to public welfare and empowerment projects. He hoped that that the bank would improve the culture of saving and provide easy access to micro-credit to develop agricultural productivity and small businesses.

The meeting was attended by local notables, who offered to extend cooperation to the bank .They hoped that through healthy competition, local banks would improve their service delivery and jump start economic activities, for which there was great potential, as the area has been feeding the entire district for centuries.-- Islamuddin, Garam Chashma 30 Dec 2011
