Chitral --In In an attempt to
eliminate stray dogs, the municipal committee Chitral and health
department (whose joint responsibility it is), are displaying abject
cruelty towards these poor creatures. After having been given
poisoned bait by the authorities, there has been no post poison
monitoring and dogs and pups are seen lying here and there groaning
in a neither dead nor alive state. A puppy was seen near her gone
mother nibbling at dead wood after failing to get any food from her.
The responsible officials do not probably understand that dogs are
also God's creatures and they have their rights too. There is a
proper way of eliminating unwanted dogs without being cruel and
ruthless but the workers of these two organisations who are deputed
to do the needful do not display any sense of compassion and the
officials do not care to check them. No wonder God does not bestow
His blessings upon us any more as we have relinquished the traits of
kindness and compassion so basic to a balanced human being. We have
become frighteningly callous and inconsiderate specially when it
comes to helpless creatures of God. --(CN report, 19 Apr 10)
