This is with reference to news about death of a Chitrali police officer killed by an unknown person at the Shamozai Police Station in Swat. That police officer was Noor Wazir Khan, a good friend of mine, who was famous for his honesty, integrity and commitment with his profession. He served in Chitral Police Department for more than two decades. Recently, Noor Wazir got a promotion and transferred to the Shamozai Police Station in Swat. During last days of his life, he conveyed me his worry about his co-workers not liking him as a Chitrali officer among them. Finally, he was killed by another police officer within the police station. The case was closed as an accident; I feel it was not an accident but he was targeted by an aggressive colleague. The dead body of Noor Wazir Khan was another painful “gift” for us. I am worried about all other Chitrali officers, some of whom are my friends, and are serving in volatile areas.
