Chitralis indifferent to province name change

Busy trying to survive the economic holocaust

CHITRAL, 03 April,10: By and large, Chitralis have shown indifference to change of name of the province from NWFP to Khyber-Pukhtoon Khwa. Although many resent it and Chitral News has received a number of letters voicing dissent over the new name, but the average man in the street seems too busy struggling to survive a galloping inflation, killing price escalations and unending energy crisis, to indulge in the luxury of debating a name for the province. Many intellectuals feel that Chitralis would loose their identity in the new Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa insinuation, while some say it is the right of the majority to name the province as they wish, and we should accept it. Some say it is a non-issue. Some feel the ANP will now have no unfulfilled slogan to do politics with, and it will now have to practically deliver, which is the most difficult thing for politicians in Pakistan.  --(CN report)
