Chitral not Pukhtoonkhwa please -letter

 

 

This is with reference to the ongoing controversy of renaming the NWFP province as Pukhtoonkhwa. If we take out the tribal areas (who are demanding a separate province for themselves) there are more non- Pukhtoon people in the province  than Pukhtoons. So naming the province Pukhtoonkhwa or Afghania is not appropriate. I wish to remind here that in 1948 the then Chitral Mehtar HH Muzaffar Ul Mulk had a pact with Quaid e Azam according to which Chitral was to be under the Centre's control. We now demand that the pact be honoured and Chitral be put under Cenre's control, otherwise after the province is named Pukhtoonkhwa, we who are the largest area district of nwfp with half a million population, would loose our identity.
