Threat to our
cultural values
-letter
Chitral is a region with rich cultural values, homogeneous to all
parts of Chitral. Unfortunately, last few years have witnessed
challenges to our cultural identity posed by the various segments of
society with the quest to withstand the challenges of today, thus
promoting a civilization different to our cultural ethos.
I may remind that a civilization indifferent to basic cultural
norms is like a building without a foundation and detrimental to its
very existence. I never blame any one for intended malign of Chitral
culture but the negligence to this effect is obvious from the
silence on our part. For instance Chitrali songs edited with some
actress performing in the back ground, although the motion pictures
have no association with Chitral, yet our silence to such play off
reflects our pessimistic mindset toward preservation of our culture,
thereby Chitral culture is projected negatively to the bizarre
visitors to websites.
Likewise programs / seminars organized/attended by NGO where ladies
and gents are photographed, in disregard to Chadar & Chardiwari &
print the same on media, has badly damaged our culture. I wouldn't
hesitate to highlight that in most cases these seminars are
primarily focused toward stage managed performance rather than
practical manifestation of their agenda on ground for the well being
of society which is evident from the out put of such seminars. These
practices have badly damaged cultural identity of Chitral. I request
all Chitralis to keep a check on the above mentioned aspects to take
stern measure to preserve and protect the culture of Chitral.
