Land settlement in Chitral -letter

There is a need to initiate home work on the issue of settlement of land in Chitral and release our agricultural land, pastures and mountains leased out to non Chitralis. This issue had been raised during a meeting of CDF held in Islamabad. There must be a piece of law banning the selling of land, plots and buildings to non Chitralis. The objective of this law would be the protection and safeguard of the poverty stricken people of Chitral from the clutches of rich intruders and ultimate exploitation.

 This issue is of serious nature and has serious consequences. The other parts of Pakistan particularly most parts of NWFP have changed into hell and the lives, properties and honor of the people is totally unsafe. Allah Almighty has so far protected us from the menace of terrorism and religious extremism. The unique culture of Chitral, the peaceful atmosphere coupled with environmental friendly life and availability of pure drinking water, scenic view and easy accessibility will certainly  attract people to settle in Chitral.

The unscrupulous attitude of  Chitralis towards certain issues has already defamed every sensible and educated Chitrali. This is  high time to educate the people and evolve strategy to block the  means through legislation, so that the Chitrali community pass  a harmonious life and its unique culture of peace, tranquility and mutual respect remains in place. The Chitral Development Forum has already taken initiative in this regard and endeavors to take all stakeholders on board. Suggestions from the readers and Chitrali intellectuals are solicited.
