Disappointing 100 days - letter

Pak tribune

Residents of Chitral are disillusioned because of the dismal first 100-day performance of the government. Skyrocketing prices of food items have multiplied financial miseries of the residents of Chitral. The price of flour has increased by 60 per cent. There has been 120 per cent increase in the price of basmati rice. Prices of pulses have shot up by more than 100 per cent. Similarly prices of vegetable ghee and cooking oil have risen by 50 per cent. Likewise, prices of LGP and kerosene oil, which are used for cooking purposes, are out of the reach of the poor. Consequently, a wave of discontent and resentment has spread across the district.

It is a cruel joke with the poor citizens of Chitral that the NWFP coalition government wasted precious taxpayers’ money on trips by many senior officials to the Shandur festival in the first week of July. It is high time the PPP government provided instant relief to the residents of Chitral and controlled food inflation.
