Chitrali volunteer honoured in Canada
-letter2
Sparing
time for volunteering activities in a country like Canada is not that easy
as in other countries, specially for new immigrants, who need to work lot
more to meet standard living expenditure. Sayed Nazir has proved himself as
very hard working and honest employee, wherever he worked in Canada . For
short period we lived together under one roof. Unfortunately I could not
learn much from him, like getting up at 5 am for work and morning Prayer,
inviting and coordinating with others for arrangement of Jumma prayers at
noon, sharing problems of others without expecting any thing in return make
him versatile and different from other Pakistanies. His recent achievement
as best volunteer of the year for serving people from
all races and religions without any covered expectation in return is proof
of his loyalty and neat personality. As he lives far away from other
Chitrali families in Canada I therefore congratulate him on behalf of every
Chitrali living in
Ontario through Chitral news.

Chitrali volunteer honoured in Canada
-letter
The City of Calgary Parks, Alberta Canada has
appreciated the services of a Chitrali living in Canada namely Syed Nazir
and declared him as a most active volunteer of the year. The Calgary Area
Outdoor Council has also acknowledged his services and wrote a special
article about his contributions in its reputed online paper. Following is an
abstract from the article published by the CAOC during April 2008.
“Calgary is a long way away from the isolated northern
mountain district of Chitral, Pakistan; Where Syed Nazir Khan first
discovered his love for the outdoor, his passions for environment
conservation and his commitment to community. Today Syed Nazir and his
family reside in Calgary, where he has become the City of Calgary’s Parks
Volunteer Ranger Programs most active volunteer. In the spring 2007 Syed
Nazir joined the parks Volunteer Ranger Program because for his love for
nature and his desire to do something positive for the environment. You can
find Syed Nazir Volunteering at Bowness Park where he often provides people
with information about the park, public stewardship practices, and park
related bylaws. He also encourages people to take care of the park by role-
modeling proper park etiquette.”
It is worth to mention here that prior his immigration to Canada Syed Nazir
was an active social worker in Chitral. He was involved in different social
activities such as environmental awareness campaigns, helping
underprivileged people, organizing cultural and sports activities for young
generation.
