Drinking
water pollution sickens consumers:
CHITRAL 18 Aug 08: Polluted drinking water from some water tanks in Chitral
city has caused gastro enteritis problems amongst the consumers. It may be
pointed out that besides the main source of spring water supply served to
the town there are many auxiliary water tanks set up by the people
themselves to make up for the water shortage. These tanks recieve water from
the Chitral Gol stream which are not adequately protected from pollution and
become polluted often causing visibly effective water related
ailments.

Goat grazing allowed in
Molengol nallah:
CHITRAL 18 Aug 08: Goat grazing which was banned in Molengol nallah area has
resumed again after a judicial litigation between the local conservation
committee and goat grazers resulted in a victory for the later. Molengol
nallah in Chitral city has had devastating floods in the past and after
grazing was banned and plantation carried out, flooding had ceased since the
last twenty years. Now goat grazing has resumed which may again lead to soil
erosion and possible flooding of the nallah. --(CN report)
