Hospital found locked, staff get suspended

CHITRAL, 27 July 08: District coordination officer, Chitral, Mustasim Billah Shah conducted a surprise visit to the THQ Hospital Booni and found the doors of its gates locked and its entire staff including the doctors absent, sources said.

The DCO visited the hospital in the zero hours of Sunday in the hospital situated 80km from Chitral city to ascertain the response of the staff to the casualty duties as the hospital is the only govt health facility in upper Chitral, the sources said. The DCO ordered immediate suspension of the absent staff including the doctor from the service and directed the executive district officer (health) to conduct inquiry against them to bring them to book.

The DCO has warned that no leniency will be shown towards government employees who show laxity towards their duties in the health and education departments which directly affect the people. He said that a coordinated system of check and balance will be ensured and those will be punished severely who did not discharge his or her duty punctually and efficiently. --(Zahiruddin)
