Islamabad-Chitral direct flight from 06 July

CHITRAL, 03 July 08: Direct flight between Islamabad and Chitral will start operating from 06 July. The flight would depart Islamabad and land at Chitral, then fly to Peshawar from Chitral, and back from Peshawar to Chitral, while the last leg would fly directly from Chitral to Islamabad, This arrangement was introduced last year but fell to a successful conspiracy from within the PIA staff to fail it. At that time the staff at Islamabad for reasons best known to them, started refusing tickets to intending passengers saying the flights are full for the next one month, while sending the plane empty from Islamabad day after day. On the other hand the return flight from Chitral to Islamabad was plying with full occupancy. If this year too the affairs at Islamabad booking office are not monitored closely right from the beginning, it is feared the service would meet the same fate; but if the PIA authorities honestly issue tickets to the passengers and carry out adequate advertising and marketing, the service is bound to prove a smashing success commercially, while at the same time serving the need of thousands of Chitrali passengers living and working south of Peshawar who are badly in need of this route service --(CN report)
