6 km Lowari tunneling complete
CHITRAL,19 May 08: Six kilometers of the Lowari tunnel has been excavated so
far said an NHA official talking to this scribe. The 8.6 km tunneling is to
be completed by the end of this year and then a railway track will be laid
which would facilitate carrying 34 loaded vehicles at a time including
loaded trucks on railway wagons pulled by an electric powered engine. The
schedule for commencement of usage of this tunnel is in 2008. The tunnel
would be 7m wide and 6.79m high and would cost Rs 8 billion.--(GH Farooqi)
PTCL Wireless disappoints
consumers.
CHITRAL,19 May 08:
Wireless loop service ( V. PTCL) has failed to deliver satisfactory service
in Chitral and the users are fed up with it. The local Franchisee of
the service complained that after an Engineer of WLL (V PTCL) arrived
here the problem began, fearing foul play within the PTCL to fail the WLL
and benefit mobile service providers. --(GH Farooqi)
