Qaqlasht Festival concludes

CHITRAL: 3 days long Qaghlasht festival concluded  on 27 April. Member Provincial Assembly Haji Ghulam Muhammad was chief guest on the final day of the festival. During the 3 days long festival 12 Football teams, 6 polo teams, 12 Cricket Teams, 2 Tug of War teams, 8 marksmanship teams, 4 shot-put teams and 30 short distance race teams participated. Musical concerts and cultural shows were daily events. Final Polo match was contested between Reshun and Booni polo teams. Booni polo team defeated Reshun team with 12 goals tto 5 goals. Similarly Final Football match was contested between QASADO team and UTDN team in which QASADO defeated UTDN team in penalty strokes. In Tug of War match Booni team defeated Mulkoh team. Chief guest announced rupees 20000 for management committee, rupees 2000 for polo team.

Besides a Musical Chair contest was also held for special people during the festival. There was also marksmanship contest with very old, traditional and orthodox weapons where senior citizen participated. Main objectives behind this festival were to protect indigenous culture of the area. And to review it in presence of young generation. Some 12 local support organization participated in the festival. The festival was jointly celebrated by Chitral Association for Mountain Area Tourism, Agha Khan Rural Support Program and a Mobilink. Spectators from all over the district and non local tourists also participated the Qaghlasht festival. --
