Saudi fund for Golen hydel project
 

CHITRAL, 25 April, 08: Hopes have been rekindled that work on the 105 Mw Golen hydel project 20 Km north of Chitral town would speed up. It was stated after a meeting between Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Ali S Awadh Asseri in Islamabad, that the Saudi government has pledged $187 million soft loan to Pakistan.  Out of the loan $40 million have been allocated for the Golen Gole Hydropower Project. The remaining amount $147 million would be utilised for development projects in Balakot and Rawalakot to offset earthquake impact. --(CN report)
