One more killed crossing Lowari
CHITRAL, 10 Feb, 09: Zainul Abedin s/o Ziaul Haq, student of a
Madrassa in Peshawar and resident of Baradam Ashret was killed
after being hit by an avalanche at Matta Khwar Lowari pass while trying
to cross the killer pass on foot. Due to cancellation/expensiveness of
PIA flights and insecurity of the Afghanistan route, desperate travelers
are resorting to attempt crossing the Lowari pass on foot at the peril
of their lives, while passage through the already dug Lowari tunnel is
being denied to them by the Govt. --(GH Farooqi)
