Misappropriation in Haj arrangements alleged

CHITRAL, 06 Jan 09:  Haji Fazlur Rehman, a resident of Chitral and returnee from pilgrimage of Khana-e-Kaaba has alleged mismanagement and cheating on the part of ministry of religious affairs officials and said that the arrangement for the boarding and lodging of the pilgrims was poor.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, he said that they failed to perform the religious ritual with mental dedication and whole-heartedness because they faced so many problems. He said that each pilgrimage was given 900 Saudi Riyals for meals by the Haj authorities which was quite inadequate to meet their requirements. Comparing it with that of India, he said that the government of India had charged only 88000 rupees each from the pilgrimage but paid each 2000 Riyals for meals while we had paid as heavy amount as 2 lakh each.

He demanded of the government to probe into the alleged bungling so that the intending pilgrims in future may not face such like  problem and mismanagement. --(Zahiruddin)
