CHITRAL, 18 August 2007:  The provincial secretariat of the PPP in a press release on Saturday said that the District bodies of the party had no authority to nominate candidates for the PPP ticket to contest the forth coming general elections and all such decisions are to be made by the party Chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto upon recommendations from the various parliamentary boards set up for the purpose whose job is to do their home work and use their resources to identify the most deserving candidate capable of proving equal to the task. The press release made special reference to Chitral where the party district organization had engineered a mock 'election' through a handful of chosen workers to nominate a particular candidate for the NA seat. The 'election' because of it's totally shameless and foul modus operandi and grave irregularities led to an immediate public uproar amongst the party workers and voters which was duly taken notice of by the party high command which promptly declared it null and void and warned the district organization not to create rifts within the party.

Meanwhile Party workers, voters and all the candidates themselves expressed satisfaction over the decision and vowed to abide by the decision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in all matters including allocation of party tickets for the forth coming general elections.
