CHITRAL, 15 August 2007:  Independence Day was celebrated at Government Centennial model high school Chitral. District Nazim Chitral Haji Maghfirat Shah was chief guest on the occasion. Students presented national anthem while they also performed March past. Addressing the ceremony, principal of Centennial model high School Chitral stressed upon students to get more and more education because no nation can develop without education. He also pointed out poor condition of the school, which is first educational institute of the district. He demanded renovation and maintenance of classrooms and other facilities in the School. District Nazim said that our motherland is a blessing of Allah Almighty and freedom was bestowed on us on this day. He said we should to protect our country.  Sweets were distributed amongst the children. (GH Farooqi)

Flood damages Chumurkon village. Flash flood ruined standing crops and eroed cultivable land at Chamarkun village near Chitral town.. Deodar trunks were also washed away in the  nearby forest when  flood erupted at Chochogoal nullah of Chamarkun. Children, women folk and aged people were crying and were running towards high grounds to save their lives at night time. No loss of humanlife was reported by the flood. Residents of the area demanded protection bund at the Village side at Chamarkun nullah  to save the land from such floods (GH Farooqi)
