Madaklasht groans under problems
CHITRAL, 09 August 2007 - Madaklasht, the enchanting castaway valley of Chitral is groaning under communication problems. This was stated by councilors of the area, general councilor Bakhtiar and Lady councilor Zahir Dana, while talking to Chitral News. They said traveling from Drosh to Madaklasht, a distance of 50 Km only costs a person Rs 150 in the rickety public transport jeeps. The reason for this exorbitant fare they gave was the dilapidated condition and at places total absence of a road. They said private individuals have set up barriers at several places on this route and are charging heavy taxes from the jeeps on the pretext that the jeeps are plying on their private land due to government road being washed away. The drivers pass the extortion money burden on to the commuters, which has become unbearable they said. The two councilors had traveled all the way from Madaklasht upto Chitral to record their grievances with the press .
