Principal ignores retirement orders

CHITRAL, 17 July 07: District Naib Nazim who is also the acting district nazim at the moment, Sultan Shah paid a surprise visit to government vocational training institute Chitral and found that its principal was continuing functioning on the seat despite his retirement one month ago. Mr. Shah was accompanied by the members of local press and was told that after the retirement of Abdur Rauf Qureshi on 19th June last, the EDO technical education appointed an instructor of the college Manzoor Ilahi as acting principal but he (Qureshi) did not relinquish charge yet.

Posted as principal of the college on 1st August 2000, Mr. Qureshi did not respond to the nazim’s query of sticking to the post except saying that he has applied to the competent authority for two year’s extension in service. He had not replaced his name board from the office while some employees said that he was using the official vehicle of the college as well.

The nazim expressed his dissatisfaction over the functioning of the college and said that it did not meet the purpose of its establishment. He said that the college has no lack of infrastructure and facilities and it was meant to provide technical education to the unemployed youth to enable them for self-employment but it has utterly failed in the job.

He constituted an enquiry team headed by himself to thoroughly check and audit the disbursement of zakaat scholarships to the students to find out the alleged anomalies there. He said that the district government will no more tolerate any laxity and inefficiency in the educational institutions. He said that the irregularity of not relinquishing charge on pretext on the part of the retired principal will be taken a strong notice of.  (Zahiruddin)
