Pervert loadshedding plagues Chitral Town

CHITRAL, 11 Jul 07: Ever heard of the electricity going off for two hours, coming on for one hour and then going off again starting in the evening and continuing this hide and seek till morning and then the whole day?.

This is a regular feature with the electric supply in Chitral. Despite  clear instructions from the Govt that there shall be no loadshedding during night time any where in Pakistan, the residents of Chitral are  subjected to this torture with impunity.  District govt seems to be helpless in checking this nuisance, and a senior member of the District Govt talking to Chitral News expressed his inability to solve the problem and said that WAPDA was doing this on purpose to turn the people against the district and the provincial governments.

Pitiable to note that Chitral District, sitting upon a wealth of potential hydel power should have today been supplying electricity to the whole province, had it's resources been exploited for the collective benefit of the area. Instead, the town is shamefully deprived of basic power requirements  - Thanks to our vision-less and self serving leaders. (GH Farooqi)
