Nazim to welcome President

CHITRAL, 03 Jul 07: District Nazim Haji Maghfirat Shah has said that the President would be welcomed to Chitral whenever he visits. He paid tributes to the president as architect of the local bodies system and said Chitralis would as in the past welcome him irrespective of political affiliations. He said some vested interests were creating misunderstandings in this regard. He was addressing councilors convention in Chitral. He lamented that last year a grant of 100 million rupees announced by the president was being spent through unelected people which is against the spirit of democracy and a matter of  discouragement for the local govt system.             MNA, MPA distribute checks

CHITRAL, 03 Jul 07: MNA Moulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali and MPA  Moulana Jahangir distributed checks worth Rs 10.2 million amongst affectees of last winter's avalanches.  The two castigated federal minister Amir Muqam for making false promises of aid to the affectees which did not materialise, they said. The DCO Kamran Rehman talking to press reporters on the occasion gave out details of recent rescue operations undertaken in Sonoghor and other areas. (Jahangir Jigar)

 One kills wife

CHITRAL, 03 Jul 07: One Fateh Ur rehman of  Domel Nisar area near the Afghan border hacked his wife to death and fled away from the scene.Police have registered a case and are investigating. The immediate cause of the crime could not be ascertained. (Jahangir Jigar)
