PPP Chitral meets, discusses issues

CHITRAL, 03 June 07: A General body meeting of PPP Chitral was held to discuss various political issues. The meeting was chaired by district president Zainul Abedin and attended by Cabinet members, Gen Secy Hakim Khan Advocate, SVP Fida Ali, VP Syed Burhan Shah, VP Zahir Shah, Dy Gen Secy Nawab Khan advocate, President PLF Israruddin Advocate, MirDollah Jan Advocate, Chairman Sub Division Sharif Hussain, Naib Nazim Drosh Haji Mobin ul Mulk Chairman Town Bashir Ahmad. Notables who attended included  (Wg Cdr r) Fardad Ali Shah, Maj (r) Ahmad Saeed), AC (r) Sardar Muhammad, DPO (r) Muhammad Saeed, Shahzada Nisar Jilanee etc, besides a large number of senior workers from all over Chitral. Speakers paid compliments to  Fardad Ali Shah for choosing PPP as his political platform and said it was a blessing and would sure strengthen the party.

Wg Cdr Fardad Ali Shah in his address said, PPP is no doubt a party of the people with representation from every segment of the society. He said he has been watching the PPP as an independent politician for the last 13 years and came to the conclusion that whenever the PPP failed elections in the past  it was because of dissentions and conspiracies by planted fifth columnists. He said twice in the 1997 elections and the last local bodies elections he as an independent almost beat the PPP candidates, because there was lack of unity and discipline within it.  Regarding the Nazims forming an alliance with another political party in the last Local bodies elections, he said whatever happened at that time was at least open and transparent. He said transparent alliances or arrangements done in the best interest of the people are the better part of politics, He said in fact it is  'Munafiqsm' (Hypocrisy) which is injurious to  politics and to Chitral. He paid tributes to the Nazims and asked them to keep a close liaison with the party's district organisation to strengthen the Pakistan Peoples  Party.

The district President Zainul Abedin suggested celebration of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's birthday on June 20, which was unanimously approved. It was also decided that a caravan of workers will go to Peshawar to attend the Chehlum of PPP leader Qamar Abbas Shaheed on June 17.

The meeting took exception to the setting up of a diagnostic center  by a welfare organisation in the District Hospital and said the  organisation (AlKhidmat) was organ of a political party and had no business in Govt property jurisdictions. speakers said the organisation is welcome to carry out it's welfare activities outside on private land but not inside the govt hospital otherwise more political parties will follow suit and turn the hospital into a political arena.. Speakers said we believe in 'Khidmat in Politics', not ''Politics in Khidmat'.

The meeting concluded by pledging to abide by all the directives / decisions of the party's provincial and central high command with respect to any issue.
