CHITRAL, 07 May 07: A truck driver, died after receiving electric shock touching low hanging electric wires on the Lowari top. According to details a truck carrying some buffalos from Dir to Chitral reached a blind turn at the Lowari top where the truck was stopped due to some technical fault. The driver climbed over the cabin of the truck to fetch some equipment but unfortunately he touched the main 33 KV Transmission power line. He expired before reaching the hospital. It is worth mentioning that due tremendous snowfall on the Lowari pass all cables and electricity poles have broken and and the cable  passes very low and can cause more accidents if not secured properly.

 In two similar incidents two boys received electric shock injuries. According to details Javed Azam son of Mir Azam 10 year’ old resident of Aweer was on his way to Parpish where a main electricity supply distribution line was only 4 feet above the ground. As a result Javed Azam was severely electrocuted and was rushed to DHQ hospital where his condition was critical and was referred to Peshawar hospital.

On second day an other young boy Sajid Ahmad son of Haneef Khan Resident of Barinus was electrocuted by the same cable and badly injured and burnt. He became unconscious and was rushed to District Headquarter hospital Chitral where he is under treatment. This scribe also contacted officials of SHYDO at Reshun power house who said that they were not aware about the situation in time and now after receiving the complaint we repaired the line. Inayatullah Aseer coordinator of child rights committee Chitral and Niaz A Niazi Advocate president Legal Aid Forum for Human Rights Chitral have condemned SHYDO for their irresponsibility and demanded for compensating to both the injured boys. Truck breakdown blocks Lowari pass

CHITRAL, 07 May 07: Axel of a Truck broke while  coming from Dir to Chitral   near Matta Khwar but simultaneously axel of another truck going to Dir  broke at the same place where the faulty truck was standing as a result traffic on main road of Lawari top was suspended for more than 10 hours after which  it was restored.  (GH Farooqi)
