Rs24bn being spent on uplift of Chitral

 

CHITRAL, 25 Apr 07: An amount of Rs24 billion is being spent on development projects in Chitral. This was stated by Federal Minister for Political Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam while replying a question raised by Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali in the National Assembly on Wednesday. The minister said work on the gigantic Lowari tunnel project was in progress at a cost Rs8 billion which would provide an all-weather route to the valley. Answering another question, Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi said a loan agreement had been signed with Kuwait for funding the Golden Gol hydel power project. He said work on the project would start in early 2008.--Zar Alam Khan
