Private banks head for Chitral
CHITRAL, 07 Dec 08: Two
private banks namely Bank Islami Pakistan Ltd and Soneri Bank are set to
begin operations in Chitral by end of the month. The first
mentioned starting operations with it's first branch in Chitral town would only carry out
Shariat compliant (Islamic) banking, while the later also a trusted name
in conventional banking would start operations with its first branch at Booni.
Earlier two private banks venturing into Chitral ie 'The Bank of Khyber' and 'Alfalah
Bank' have established themselves as successful commercial banks, despite the
long time presence of branches of Pakistan's largest banks here. --(CN report)
