PIA refuses tickets to passengers,
prefers to fly empty
CHITRAL, 27 Nov 08: PIA
ticketing staff at the Islamabad/Rawalpindi offices continue to
discourage Chitral bound passengers by refusing them tickets out-rightly
without any rhyme or reason, thus frustrating passengers and inflicting
heavy financial losses to the organisation.
Tehsil Nazim Chitral talking to 'Chitral News' said he
had some official guests wanting to come to Chitral but were refused
tickets for the past many days. He said when he checked up the actual
situation he found out that only four passengers were on board on
Wednesday and similar numbers in the preceding days. It may be noted
that this is not the case in Peshawar and Chitral where tickets are duly
issued. In fact the return flight from Chitral to Islamabad is mostly
full. How is it possible that four passengers fly from Islamabad to
Chitral while 34 fly back on the same return flight ie from Chitral to
Islamabad. Even a child can understand that something is rotten
somewhere.
On complaints by individuals to the MD and news reports
in the press, the PIA authorities had promised to sort out the problem
and bring the culprits to task, but unfortunately instead of improving,
things have gone worse. PIA is a national airline and the people's money
is supporting it's financial losses (due to such attitude of it's
staff). It would be most unfortunate if the PIA fails to rectify this
grave mishandling and continues to inflict financial losses on the
exchequer.(Even if the plight of passengers does not mean anything them) --(CN
report)
