Eid celebrated in Chitral

CHITRAL, 02  JAN 07: Eid ul Azha also known as 'Loat Nimaizh' (Big Eid') in Chitral was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervor here  Monday. Per tradition Chitral observed Eid with the announcement of the central` ruet Hilal Committee, unlike many parts of NWFP which observed Eid a day earlier. Rain and Snow fall, at the time of prayers caused attendance to be thin in the Major mosques of the town, as many people were forced by the weather to offer their prayers in their village mosques.

Many offered sacrifices of animals while many more could not afford it. Extreme cold and wet weather dampened the usual Eid day activities but the spirit remained high as always on Eid occasion. (Mian Mehboob Ali Shah)
