Snow flakes drape Chitral white
CHITRAL, 13 Nov 08: Snow fall on the Lowari pass
(10 inches reported) blocked the road and cut off the district from rest
of the world. It also cut off Electricity supply leaving Chitral both
under snow and darkness Wednesday night. Chitral town which
usually does not recieve snow in this month was draped in white Thursday
morning though the snow flakes are likely to melt in a few hours but
higher areas of Mastuj subdivision and Garam Chashma area have received
the full dose of winter snow. Blockade of the Lowari pass and outage of
electric supply from down country both highlight the need for early
utilisation of the Lowari tunnel and enhancement of indigenous hydel
power stations in the district. --(CN
