Repairing the Lowari transmission line

CHITRAL, 08 Mar 2010: Repair work to restore the Electricity transmission line over the Lowari pass is going on. When, at Ziarat, Editor CN  asked the responsible Assistant Director who was personally supervising the repair work, that what if after he finished the repair work and it rains the very next day ? to which he replied with impunity that the whole process starting from protests of the consumers to sanctioning the work to actually repairing the poles and wires would start all over again. It may be pointed out that the present work has started one month after the transmission line broke down due to snow fall early February.

When he was questioned as to why was govt money being wasted on a silly pursuit  instead of making a power house at Chitral, he said that if political leaders in Pakistan  think rationally and honestly all problems of this country could be solved within no time. He said he was just a worker and obeyed commands. He could not morally defend the rationality of carrying electricity over the Lowari pass to Chitral when there is so much water up there crying to be turned into electric power.--( CN report)
